Best PC DVD Player Software

October 16th, 2006

If you are looking for the best DVD player software for PC, I would say go with CyberLink PowerDVD .

It has saved me in many situations when I’m trying to open low quality DVDs, or a writeable DVDs. All the other software I tried either the picture skewed horribly, or got jammed middle way, or just blanked screen.

The video playbacks quality of PowerDVD is outstanding and it is complements with superb sound outputs. For displays, it supports HD Video Playbacks and even capable of playing old VCD formats such as MPEG 2 and MPEG 1. For sounds, it includes Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS Digital Surround and also SRS TruSurround XT. Plus, it also support other video format such as VCD, SVCD, VOB, Windows Media Video and even can be use as an mp3 player.

The closest competitor to PowerDVD would be the WinDVD and DirectDVD. But when compared, PowerDVD seems to have better video quality, more supports of video formats, more support in audio outputs, the ease of installations and better help documents. So, for the same price, you definitely won’t go wrong with CyberLink PowerDVD . It has a 30 Trial period, so just try it and see.

How about free DVD player software? Surprisingly, it is very hard to find. Even though there is a few of them, I won’t recommend it. Not worth the time to even try it. How do I know? … Because I tried it before, when I bought my DVD drive and found out the it didn’t include any DVD player software! So as usually, the search begins for reliable free software. But to my despair, all of them really are bad. It’s not just the movie display, but also the controls. You can hardly navigate and easily got stuck if you play with the slider bar.

If you can afford a DVD drive for your pc, just spent a bit more for good DVD player software so that you get sharp crisp video playbacks and a crystal clear quality surrounds sound out of your DVDs. That will be worth your investment.
