So there is should be no advertisements, no spams, no spywares and no nasty stuff that can make your pc to explode.
In the website you can see a number of software categories that you can choose from or you can use the search button to search for the software that you want. For example, ftp or telnet software and there will be a number of free open source software to choose from. These free softwares should provide all the main features and functionality for normal users.
Since it is free, you should try it first. Some of it is still ongoing development and probably have bugs. If you found such things, you may give them feedbacks. You may end up as a contributor in the development of a software that many people are using. That would be cool.
